 The
concept of unitization allows the value of
an investment to be calculated on a daily
basis. It is a methodology that requires each
and every contribution into a particular fund
to purchase units in that fund. If one takes
the Fund value, divided by the number of units
issued, then one can then derive the unit
price. Today’s unit price is based on
the closing market value. Thus the percentage
return can be calculated by comparing the
current unit price, with the purchase price
paid by the investor when he bought the units.
